This policy explains what personal data EssaysUniverse.com holds about you, why we hold it, who else sees it and what you can ask us to do with it. It sits alongside our Terms and Conditions and our Terms of Cookies.
Who is responsible for your data
EssaysUniverse.com is operated by PVexperts (“the Company”, “we”, “us”), which is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, write to support@essaysuniverse.com, ideally from the email address on your account so we can match the request to you quickly.
What we collect
When you create an account or place an order. Your email address, together with the name, phone number and country the order form asks for, and your time zone if you set one.
When you place an order. Your instructions, the files you upload, the messages you exchange with support and with writers, your order history, and any rating or feedback you leave.
When you pay. Card payments are taken by third-party payment processors on our payment pages. We never receive or store your full card number. What reaches us is the result of the payment and limited details such as the last digits of the card, the card’s country and the processor’s fraud checks. If we ask you to confirm a payment, for example with a screenshot of the charge in your online banking, we use it only for that check and delete it afterwards.
When you browse. Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and the page that referred you, together with the cookies described below.
When you fill in the order form. The email address you type into the form reaches us as soon as you enter it, even if you leave without placing the order.
When you message us. What you send us by email or on WhatsApp.
Writers do not see who you are
A writer sees the instructions and files of the order they work on. They never see your name, email address, phone number or payment details. Please keep personal information out of your instructions and files for the same reason.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- Running your account and your orders. Necessary to perform our contract with you.
- Payments, fraud prevention and security. Our legitimate interest in keeping payments safe, and our legal obligations for payment and accounting records.
- Support. Part of the contract, and our legitimate interest in answering you well.
- Emails about your orders. Part of the contract. Offers and news are sent with your consent or on the basis of our legitimate interest, always with an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
- Analytics and improving the website. Our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used.
- Legal compliance. Meeting our legal obligations and answering lawful requests from authorities.
Your account across our websites
The Company runs more than one website. When you pay on the EssaysUniverse.com payment page for an order placed on another of our websites, that order moves to your account here, and the same account details let you sign in on those websites too. Your data is used there under the same rules as in this policy.
Cookies and analytics
We use a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a few first-party cookies that remember how you first found us, so that we know which pages and campaigns bring customers. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used. More about cookies, and how to block or delete them in your browser, is in our Terms of Cookies.
Who else receives your data
We share personal data only as far as each of these needs it:
- payment processors and the banks involved in your payment;
- the hosting and IT providers that run the website and our systems;
- the provider that delivers our emails;
- the messaging provider behind our WhatsApp line, when you write to us there;
- Google, for analytics;
- professional advisers, and authorities when the law requires it;
- other websites and services operated by the Company, where they service your orders and your account.
We do not sell personal data.
Where your data is processed
Some of these providers process data outside your country and outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer relies on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep it
Account and order records are kept while you use your account and afterwards for as long as we need them for disputes, accounting and legal obligations, and never longer than 10 years after your last use of the website. Payment verification material is deleted as soon as the check is done. An email address typed into the order form without an order being placed is kept for up to 45 days. Our own records of visits and of how the order form is used are kept for 13 months. We stop sending offers as soon as you unsubscribe. If you ask us to delete your data, we complete the request within 14 days of confirming it is you, keeping only the records the law requires us to hold.
Your rights
Under the EU and UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable format, and object to how we use it, including for direct marketing. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Send requests to support@essaysuniverse.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to a data protection authority.
California residents
We do not sell personal information. If you live in California, you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Write to support with “California Privacy Request” in the subject line.
Children
EssaysUniverse.com is not meant for anyone under 16. If we learn that we hold data about a child, we delete it.
Keeping your data safe
Every page is served over HTTPS, access to customer data inside the Company is limited to the people who need it, and card data stays with the payment processors. No system is completely secure, so keep your password to yourself and tell support at once if you think someone else has used your account.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we publish the new version on this page with a new date. The version shown here is the one that applies.
